The objective is to enhance the design of an existing underutilized plaza, with the aim of revitalizing the space and transforming it into a vibrant focal point for students and faculty. One key element of the upgrade is the addition of a new canopy design, which will provide refuge for occupants during the winter months by protecting them from sliding ice coming from the sloped atrium roof. The canopy will not only serve a functional purpose but also contribute to the overall aesthetic appeal of the plaza.
